I was born and raised in beautiful British Columbia in the city of
Vancouver. I was brought up there by two Dutch parents who tried to
teach me Dutch from a young age, however it never really stuck until I
moved here.
According, to my two passports I am of dual nationality,
but most of you who meet me will come to the same conclusion that I do
myself, and that is that I am forever CANADIAN.
Growing up in Vancouver means that I love winter sports, water sports,
watered down beer,
bears, and maple syrup. Vancouver will forever be my first home, but
Holland has treated me well since I have moved here.
In my life I am
very used to moving around, seeing as I moved 8 times in high school
and also switched schools 3 times. This has made me a very open person
who loved to make new friends.
After graduating from High school I
decided to go with the flow and apply to the University of Victoria.
There I spend two years, that I do not in any way regret, learning that
I hate economics. Halfway through my second year I realized I do not
want to be an Economist or anything like that. It was then that I
looked into Hotel School in Holland. I applied to Maastricht and The
Hague and was accepted by both. I went to check out both cities and was
instantly sold on The Hague because it had a beach and of course sushi
restaurants.
I started in August 2008 in the glorious place we call
Skotel and met a lot of amazing people I am proud to still be friends
with today. I managed to get through Skotel and go on my internship to
San Sebastian, Spain.
Since my first semester I have
been close with
several of the previous board members and instantly learnt that the SQ
board is most definitely for me. I applied to be Chairman, because I
believe I am good leader, and want to make the supporters of SQ happy.
I can always been seen in school walking around with either a stressed
or happy look on my face, but no matter my mood never hesitate to come
up and talk to me.
